The village has originated apparently at the surroundings of the castle mentioned already in the 11th century. Today’s castle was destroyed in the second half of 15th century and the villages become a heritage of aristocracy possession. In 1570 the village had been promoted as a town. The dominant building is a Baroque church of St. Martin from 1692-99 built on place of an elder Middle Age structure. There are exhibits of traditional folklore architecture. Close to the village a spring- so-called Banovska kyselka rises.
